    Four known diterpenoids 7-acetyl-lushanrubescensin A, Lushanrubescensin A and B,and rabdoforrestin A have also been isolated from Isodon angustghlius var. glabrescens, and their structures have revised to l, 2, 3, and 4 from the structures 5, 6, 7 and 8 reported previously by the spectral analysis, especially on the basis of 2D NMR data in this paper.

    Four triterpenoid saponins, mimengosides A and B and buddlejasaponins I and Ia were isolated from a traditional Tibetan medicinal plant, Oreosolen wattii Hook. f., together with acteoside and 6-hydroxyluteolin-7-O-glucoside. The in vitro spermicidal activities of the four saponins were tested by a modified Sander-Cramer method. Mimengoside A and buddlejasaponin I Showed stronger activity than the positive control NP-9.

    A new atisine type diterpenoid named spiramilactone B (1) was islolated from the roots of Spiraeajaponica var.stellaris. Its structure was established by a spectroscopic analysis. In addi-tion, nine known compounds were also obtained, including a atisine-type diterpenoid, spiraminol(2) and eight diterpenoid alkaloids, spiramine A, B, C, D, F, H, P, Q.

    At the present paper Fagaceae from Tibet was revised. 32 species, 2 varieties of Fagaceae are reported, in which Lithocarpus pseduoxizangensis Z.K.Zhou et H. Sun was first described, and one species Quercus semiserrata Roxb. was first record to China and four species Castanopsis rockii A.Camus, Lithocarpus pechyphyllus (Kurz) Rehd, L.grandghlius (D. Don) S.N. Biswas and Q. fleuryi Hick, et A.Camus were first reported in Tibet.

    While study on the type specimens of Cordyceps sinensis (Berk.) Sacc., the Caterpillar fungus, it kept in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew (K). M. J. Berkeley (1843) who was formally described and illustrated the fungus as Sphaeria sinensis Berk., thereafter, the species was transferred by P. A. Saccardo to the genus Cordyceps (Fr.) Link, as Cordyceps sinensis (Berk.) Sacc. (1878) still now. The holotype material with a few wormholes left in ascocarps that damaged by worms, the specimens ascomata superficial, glabrous or punctate with the ostioles of the perithecia. Perithecia globoid or vase-shaped, 150-380 (550) x 110-240 pm. The cortex usually with consisting of one layer of closely interwoven hyphae, pseudoparenchymatous 80~l70 pm thick. Asci cylindric, narrowing below, l60~ 240 (400) x 5.2~ 6.5 (12) pm with a hemispherical thickening of the wall at the apex, the asci of type specimens are not fully mature and hence are thinner, the ascospores hyaline, linear, filamentous l20~l90 x 0.6~ l.3 pm (Bai Shu La Ling,HKAS 29365).

    The flora of the big bend gorge (below el. 2500 m) is very rich, which comprises ca. 1410 species of seed plants in 643 genera, 180 families. The noristics of the region has obviously transitional characters between tropical and temperate, and it is a knot of tropical and temperate flora. In the origin, it mainly originated from the Eastern Asia, which developed into Sino-himalayan elements in Hengduan Mts or S.W. China after tertiary, and the tropical Asia (Indo-malayan).

    The pteridophytic flora of Mt. Gongga comprises 399 species, 93 genera, 40 families. Some phylogenically higher taxa including Polystichum, Dryopteris, Athyrium, Polypodiaceae etc. constitute the main body of the flora. From the view of phytogeographical point, the Himalayan species and those differentiated locality in Southwest China are most important for this pteridophytic flora. Moreover, the endemic genera (shared with the neighbour areas) it contains are mostly new endemic. Therefore, it can be said that the pteriophytic flora of Mt. Gongga is a young- er one which developed with the heaving of the Qingzang Plateau. The tropical taxa, containing more genera but less species, are companied by the North-temperate components in the higher part of the Mountain. Mt. Gongga, situated in the area through which many east and west distributing boundaries of the species pass, can be taken as the subordinate meriodinal boundary of the Polysticho-Dryopetris Floristic Region.

    With the electrophoretic technique, we studied the Peroxidas (PER),Catalase (CAT), Esterase (ES), Amylase (AA), Citric acid dehydrogenase (CDH) and Glutemate dehydrogenase (GDH) in leaves of 41 plants from 5 populations with different altitudes and habitats of Deutzia multiradiata W.T.Wang which is endemic to Mt. Jinfo of Nanchuan, China. The bands of those isozymes are scored to construct the two-state data matrix which is caculated by Jaccard, Sokal-Sneath and Sokal-Michener association coefficients clustered with UPGMA and WPGMA respectively. The result reveals that individuals from the same populatin are highly homogenous genetically interprated from bands of the six isozymes, while individuals from the different popula- tions show highly dissimilarities in isozyme bands.

    By means of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, the leaf-peroxidases of 51 taxa, be- longing to 7 genera of Oleaceae, were analysed, It shows leaf-peroxidases is suitable for the classifi-cation of the family Oleaceae. According to the patterns of enzymic band, it is agreed that Fontanesia was shifted from Trib. Fraxineae and formed Trib. Fontanesieae; while Trib. Syringeae was canceled, and in which Forsythia fromed Trib. Forsythieae and Syrtinga shifted to Trib. Oleeae (near Ligustrum). On the basis of the comprehensive evidences of enzymic and morphological, fol- lowing views are proposedt (1) The taxa subfamily is revoked because the tribes in subfamily Jasminoideae have no points in common. (2) In the Sect. Syringa of Syringa, Ser. Pinnatifoliae is merged into Ser. Syringa which is put before Ser. Pubescentes. (3)Forsythia is divided into two sec-tions: Sect. 1 Forsythia include F.suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl, F.virdesima Lindl., F.mira M.C. Chang; Sect. 2 Giraldianae Qin include F. giraldana Lingelsh, F. mandschurica Uyeki, F.ovata Nakai and F. likangensis Ching et Feng ex P.Y.Bai.

    The endosperm nuclei divide sumul-taneously and each nucleus contains 2~3 nucleoli. The embryogeny corresponds to the Soland type Physalis I variation type. The antipodal cells form a layer like "out endosperm" just out of the endosperm nuclei layer and the degeneration starts from the division of the zygote. Gentianella differs form Gentiana in following embryological characters: single-origined and secretary tapetum without placentoids and trabeculae; the persistent epidermis but reduced endothecium; typical secretary type of the tapetum; 3-celled pollen when shed; 4-seriate ovules on reduced parietal placentae, hemianatropous ovules; distinct epistase; 8-l2 per- sistent multiple multinucleate highly emlarged and haustorial antipodal cells; the pollen tube not breaking any synergid and two synergids persisting during fertilization; having the embryogeny of the Soland type Physalis I variation type; each endosperm nucleus with 2-3 nucleoli; the antipodal cells forming a layer like "out endosperm" just out of the endosperm nucleus layer and degener ating after the division of the zygote. Embryological research indicates that Gentianella has a dis-tant relationship to Gentiana and it should be treated as a separated genus. Two genera may be at different evolutionary lines.

    This paper deals with the effects of PP333 and GA on bud formation of Longan and rela- tion to endogenous hormones. Results showed that the content of ipA in buds of Longan treated with PP333 was obviously higher than that treated with GA, while the content of GA was gradually decreased from high to low. The both contents treated with GA were contrary. The content of ABA in buds treated with PP333 was lower than that treated with GA. It indicated that high contents of GA and ABA were disadvantageous to bud differentiation and high content of cytokinin(ipA) in buds was advantageous to bud differentiation. Spraying of PP333 could shorten the longth of inflorescence and increase the fruit set and yield.

    In cell suspension culture of Panax ginseng C.A.Mey, when non-ionic water was used instead of double distilled water, cell growth rate and oligosaccharin yield were decreased about 2.3% and 2.9% against controlled, respectively, when defined sugar was used instead of sucrose, cell growth rate and oliogsaccharin yield were decreased about 1.74% and l.23% against controlled, respectively. As a result, substitutive medium involving non ionic water and defined sugar was used instead of original medium in involving redistilled water and sucrose. When cells were suspended in the substitutive, cell growth rate and oligosaccharin yield were 0.509 gDW / L.d and 1,443g / L, respectively, which were slightly decreased by 1.74% and 1.23% as compared with control in cell suspension culture, while the cost of medium could be largely reduced about 3000 yuan/ t medium. Time course of cell suspension culture in substitutive medium was been unchanged, an appropriate period for oligosaccharin preparation from P.ginseng cultured cells was about 20 day.

    A sweet protein, brazzein, has been discovered from the fruits of Pentadiplandra brazzeana B., a tropical wild plant in west Africa. Brazzein has 54 amino acid residues; it is 2000 times sweeter than sucrose (Ming and Hellekant, 1994 ). In this article, further characterization shows that its molecular weight is 6.5 kD and isoelectric point is 5. It has 8 cysteines and they form four disulfide bonds. After treating its aqueous solution at 80 ℃ for 4 hrs, no changes in sweetness and behavior of electrophoresis are found. Secondary structures predictions suggests that beta turns and beta sheets are the dominant structures in the protein.

    Calli were induced from young stem and needle of Taxus chinensis (Pilg.) Rehd. Some basic respects of calli culture and cell suspension culture were investigated. Their capability of syn-thesis taxol were analyzed by HPLC method. Some factors of increasing the growth rate and taxol yield of cultured cells were tested. The growth rate of calli and suspension culture cells from Tax us chinensis were 0.25 g/L.d and 0.28 g / L.d (based on the cell dry weight) respectively, and their taxol content were 0.0026% and 0.012% respectively.
