    The genus Enkianthus is one of the genera of Ericaceae, It contains 13 species, distributing in eastern Asia. Many studies of the genus Enkianthus made by predecessors did not have divide the infrageneric taxa and discuss evOlutionary trend of the genus. The present author divides the genus into 3 sections(Sect.Ⅰ. Enkianthus, Sect. Ⅱ.Racemuss and Sect. Ⅲ. Monanthus)and also discusses the evolutionary trend of the genus. In this paper 1 new specios has been discribed, with the figure of the type specimen.

    The anthers of several rice varieties at the early stage of culture in vitro were treated with mutagens ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS), 1-methyl-3-nitro-1- nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) and ethylene imide (EI) at different doses (EMS: 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, ml/l, MNNG: 25, 50, 100 mg/l; EI: 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.0 ml/l) different temperature (8, 18, 27℃) and different duration (2, 4, 8, 10, 20, 30 hrs). It was observed that at lower dose and temperature, the mutagen treatment raised the induction frequency of callus, but it decreases rapidly with the increase of doses, temperature, and duration of mutagen treatment, and correspondingly, the percentage of albino plantlets increases with no obvious change in total differen- tiation frequency of calli.

    From thc bulblet of Notholirion bulbuliferu, (Lingrlsh) Steam, a folk medicine (Chinrse name Tai Bai-Mi), a stercidal glycoalkaloid which identified as solanidine-3-O- α-L-rhamnopyranosyl- (1→2)[-6-D-glucopyranosyl- (1→4) ]- β-D-glucopyranuside (Ⅲ) was isolated together with free solanidine (Ⅰ) and its dehydrated product (Ⅱ).

    The present paper compared winter wheat (Triticum sativum L.c.v. "Feng-mai-13") grown on the different altitude. The results showed, comparing wheat grown on higher altitude (2150 m) with that grown on lower altitude (840 m), that the former has a longer duration of leaves, a smaller area per leaf and total leaf area a plant; a lower intensity of photosynthesis during early stage, a higher intensity of photosynthesis during filling period, and little difference between both stages; a heavier thousand-kernel-weight, and a lesser number of grains per head than the latter. On the other hand, the difference of yield component has been disscused in terms of photosynthesis-yield. We proposed, on tbe basis of the dis- scusion, an assumption that how increase in number of grains per head which wheat is grown on higher altitude.

    From crude glucosides of the root of Cynanchum wallichii Weight (chinese name: Duanjieshan), a folk antirheumarthritic and analgetic drug in Yunnan, by treatment with acid five C21-steroidal compounds have been isolated and identified as deacylmetaplexigenin(Ⅰ), caudatin (Ⅲ), rostratamine(Ⅴ), gagamine(Ⅶ) and qingyanshengenin (Ⅸ) respectively. Ⅸ was isolated from C. otophyllum Shneid, an another folk medicine in Yunnan, and its structure has been elucidated by Mu Quanzhang.

    Cangshan is situated at the juncture of Hengduan Mountains and Yunnan Plateau, between 25°30′-26°N and 99°50′--100°10′ E. It stretches along S-SE to N-WN. The mountain is 10 km. from the cast to the west and 50 km. from the south to the north. The highest peak is 4122 m above sea level and the relative altitude is 1000-2500 m. Cangshan is one of the younger mountains formed during the upheaval at the Quaternary Period.

    Four componts, criocalyxin A, B, C Dnd D, were isolated from the ether extract of the leaves of Rabdosia eriocalyx (Dunn) Hara collected in Yunnan. Two of them, namely (I ) and (II), were estrtblished as new diterpenoids having a spirosecokaurene and an entkaurene-skeleton by means of spectroscopic and chemical methods, respectively.Eriocalyrxin B possesses in vivo tumor-inhibitory activity.

    Based on the researching practice of introduction and domestication of a large amount of economic plants in the past 20 years in wet tropical regions of Xishuangbanna,this paper notes that it is not only necessary to improve the method but also imperative to sum up the experience of the past study and to raise the lecel in theory.

    The morphological characters of stem, leaves, flower, siliques and seeds of Ili wild black mustard have been studied. They are just alike that of original description of Brassica nigra (L. ) Koch. The results of cytogenceic survey shows h = 8, 2n = 16, self-incompatibility. The authors affirmed that the Ili wild black mutrad is Brassica nigra (L.) Koch.

    The powdery mildew parasitic on Lagerstroemia was identified as "Uncinula australiana McAlp." in China and in other countries previously. The authors have discovered, however, that there are two types of appendages growing on the same perithecium of this fungus. The long appendages are of the Uncinula type, while the short ones are sickle-shaped. This species is quite different from the species of Uncinula in that it possesses more than one type of appendages, a characteristic analogous to that found on the already reported Uncinuliella spp. on Rosaceae. Therefore, this species is transferrcd to Uncinuliella and becomes a new combination: Uncinuliella australiana (McAlp. ) Zheng et Chen comb. nov.

    Proxima P.violaceae Leveille, a qua differt foliis latioribus, obovatis vel oblanceolatis, 3.2-5 cm longis et 2- 3.7 cm latis, stigmatis brevissimis, erectis non reflexis, ovario purpureo. Herba perellnis, humilis, 6-12 cm alta. Rhizoma cylindricum, 6-8 mm crassum, 2-3 cm longum. Caulis ere- ctus, glaber, purpureus. Folia 4-5, verticillata, sessilia vel subsessilia, obo- vata vel oblanceolata, 3.2-5 cm longa, 2-3.7 cm lata, apice acuta vel breviter acuminata, basi late cuneata, integra, supra atrovirentia, subtus purpurea, utrinque cum nervis glauco-marmoratis.

    Species e grege P.creticae L., a qua specie differt magis minore; pinnis 1-3-jugis, brevioribus, infimis simplicibus aut furcatis, 10 cm longis, marginibus densissime spinoso-serrulatis.Tota planta 15-20 cm alta. Rhizomate breviter repente, paleis brunneis lanceolatis onusto. Frondibus fere subdimorphis, approximatis, stipite frondis 5-10 cm longo, straineo, laevi, glabro, supra sulcato; lamina sterili late ovata vel oblonga, 12-14 cm longa, 5-8 cm lata, imparipinnata; pinnis lateralibus 1-3-jugis,oppositis, subsessilibus, obliquis, 1-2 cm inter se remotis.

    This paper is a rcsult of our engaging to study for the hierarchic problem of group Pseudokobresia C. B. Clarke, Which we have used classical com- parative method in plant taxonomy as well as the news-system, the correlative system and distance-system of numerical taxonomy among sect. Pseudokobresia and some relative groups (genus Carex, genus Blysmus, and sect. Elyna, Sect. Kobresia, sect. Laxa, Sect. Hemicarex of genus Kobresia). The dendrograms have reflected that the group Pseudokobresia differs from the genus Kobresia, although it is nearer to the genus Carex and the genus Blysmus, all of them being dislike. Hence it is better to regard it to the rank of genus rather than as a section of Kobresia, and we are agreeing to the point ot view of H. A. lvanova.
